Intranet Support
The Scarborough Intranet is the campus portal and learning content management system (LCMS) used by Scarborough faculty, staff and 98% of students for secure academic and administrative information-sharing. The Intranet system plays a central role not only in supporting teaching online, but also as the primary official communications medium of the campus, including a booking system for campus resources and facilities, a scheduling system for student counselling appointments, channels for organizing student life, announcements and much more.
U of T Scarborough Faculty have the choice to use the Intranet or Blackboard for their courses: both are accessible to Scarborough students, and both are supported on campus. We are now recommending that Faculty try Blackboard for the online academic course environment, due to its state of the art features which support online teaching and standardization of resources and links across the university.

However, CTL continues to offer support around designing your course using the Intranet on a per request basis. Together with IITS we are now making nominal upgrades to the Intranet based on the requests of Faculty and Staff, short-term improvements to the system and as the availability of our development group allows. The most recent upgrades to the intranet, released in September 2011 include:
- Ability to change the order of items within a category on course pages
- Auto-TA account creation from 'Edit the Lecture Section' page via UTORid
- Ability to zip contents of uploaded files at conclusion of a term or for moving a course to Blackboard]
- New java-based discussion board system
- New UTSC Gateway module on the Bb home page which links to intranet courses, directory and calendar via single sign-on! (available in September)

To login to the intranet, use your UTORid and password. You should check your intranet account daily!
In addition to the materials on this site, a wide variety of support materials are also available within the intranet as context-sensitive help. This means that if you are on the "channels" page and you click "help", a detailed help page about "channels" appears with screen shots and step-by-step directions. Most of the detailed intranet help materials are accessible within the system as either help files or tooltips which is why this support page is comparatively sparse.
Faculty, staff and students who need intranet support should email questions and concerns to: intranet@utsc.utoronto.ca.
Faculty who are interested in more information about using the intranet in their courses, or about moving to Blackboard should contact the Educational Technology Administrator, Brian Sutherland, at (416) 287-7520 or Academic Communications Specialist, Daryl Weade at (416) 208-4895.
